Bournemouth Caravan Parks

Holiday Parks in DorsetBournemouth caravan parks are popular with beach-loving families – hardly surprising when you consider that the town has seven miles of award winning beaches, some of the warmest weather in the UK and great views across to the Isle of Wight.

This is a large coastal resort in Dorset on the English south coast. There are four beaches with the prestigious Blue Flag status: Alum Chine Beach, Durley Chine Beach, Fisherman’s Walk Beach and Southborne Beach.

Want to delve deeper, read our articles about:

Alum Chine has a pirate-themed children’s playground and play area while Durley Chine has beach huts for rent and a pub on the beach!

Boscombe Beach is also popular, although an artificial surf reef which was built to off the coast – the first of its kind in Europe - has been closed since 2011 to allow the council to make repairs and improvements. If you want to try the surfing, seek out one of several surf schools that can provide expert advice about riding the waves in the area.

Away from the beach but bringing you even closer to sea life is Bournemouth Oceanarium. Here you can stroll through a tunnel surrounded by sharks and stingrays or head to the Otter Oasis, set in a bamboo forest with its own rock pools. The aquarium also boasts the world’s first virtual Dive Cage, which will take you into the belly of a whale – from a safe distance we hope!

Bournemouth town centre has lots to entertain. There’s a wide variety of shops, bars and restaurants, with the wonderful Pier Theatre a great place to take in a show. For bigger exhibitions, the Bournemouth International Centre is located nearby. The town also features open top buses and the Bournemouth Eye, which provides wonderful views.

Bournemouth is close to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site so walkers and sightseers don’t have far to head to discover this amazing coastline. Three different prehistoric periods can be seen in the rocks, there are stunning views and fossil walks to explore.

If that all sounds too adventurous, stick to the idyllic public gardens that are dotted throughout the area – perfect for picnics.
