Torquay holiday parks
Stay at a caravan holiday park in Torquay and you’re in the very heart of the English Riviera, enjoying a GREAT British seaside town.
The English Riviera encompasses miles of gorgeous coastline, stunning scenery, a sunny climate and three 19th century holiday towns, Torquay, Paignton and Brixham, which sit along the edge of Torbay, a large bay with sandy beaches, clear waters and cliffs that create a suntrap.

Torquay has its own working harbour and busy port which are the hub of the town. The area is the launch pad for boat trips along the coastline and a wide range of watersports. The harbour has two piers - Princess Pier is popular for its views and fishing. Beacon Quay on the harbourside, has lots of shops and the inner harbour is surrounded by shops, cafes and restaurants and bars.
If your prefer to exercise your “little grey cells”, Torquay and the Torbay area were home to the famous crime author Agatha Christie and there is a dedicated Trail which takes visitors to many of the places featured in her books.
There is also an Agatha Christie Tribute room at Torre Abbey, which is being restored to its former glories. Highlights of the restoration project include the ancient undercrofts which were built in 1196.
Other must visits in Torquay include Living Coasts, a coastal zoo with wildlife such as penguins, fur seals, poisonous stingrays and dinosaur crabs, sealife exhibits and superb views of the bay.
To uncover 400 million years of English Riviera history seek out Torquay museum. Exhibits range from an Agatha Christie Gallery to interactive Explorers Gallery. There are artefacts from the famous excavations at Kents Cavern which helped reveal the origins of man – this spectacular cave is open to visitors and is close to Meadfoot beach and the South West Coast Path.
For a relaxing day trip, head to 16th century Cockington Village just outside of Torquay and visit the stunning craft studios and enjoy traditional cream teas and lunches.
