Travel tips & notes...
Skegness
There are many reasons why Skegness is one of the UK's best known seaside resorts: Blue-Flag awarded beaches, plenty of glitz and seafront attractions from karting to crazy golf, an historic pier packed with amusements, plus big name cabaret shows filling out the town's Embassy Theatre.
Mablethorpe
Another of our favourite seaside destinations is Mablethorpe, much loved for its giant golden beach ...yet another boasting the Blue Flag award... and a promenade lined with all the shops, arcades and fairground attractions we love for a nostalgic short break.
The Wolds
A world away from the fun-packed seaside towns, Lincolnshire's tranquil Wolds is a landscape of woodland, gentle hills and abandoned chalk pits. A walk through the Wolds will be rewarded with sightings of rare flowers and wildlife, with a delicious meal waiting at many of the tiny villages you discover on route.
Nature point
Even a stay in Skegness is just a short hop to nature, with Gibraltar Point Nature Reserve stretching along the coast from Skegness to The Wash and encompassing several major seashore and freshwater marsh habitats.
Lincoln
The old city of Lincoln has many highlights including a magnificent cathedral ...one of Europe's finest... and Lincoln Castle - these two incredible monuments stand across from each other on either side of a cobbled square.
Hooked on fishing
The east coast has a strong fishing tradition, but to understand the hardships faced by trawler men in the 1950s head to Grimsby's National Fishing Heritage Centre where you can experience the aromas and rolling deck of a recreated fishing trip.
