Kent earned its Garden of England nickname for its extensive fruit orchards, but the region also has a spectacular coastline that includes award-winning beaches and the iconic White Cliffs.
Parks in Kent
Romney Sands combines a wonderful location with superb facilities - the park is opposite one of Kent's very best beaches and the wildlife-friendly Romney Marshes, and has an indoor pool, adventure playground and a fishing lake. St Margarets holiday park, by the famous White Cliffs of Dover, is close to the beautiful seafront at Deal.
Isle of Sheppey parks
There are three Parkdean Resorts holiday parks on the Isle of Sheppey, just off the coast of north Kent. Warden Springs, Ashcroft Coast and Shurland Dale are all beautifully landscaped parks and close to a fabulous choice of beaches, and each park offers a wide range of facilities and activities.
Kent's coast has a diverse range of seaside towns and blue flag beaches, commended for their cleanliness and quality. Some of the best beaches are at Broadstairs, Margate and Ramsgate, and visitors can also stroll beneath the iconic White Cliffs at St Margaret's-at-Cliffe or explore the giant white stacks at Botany Bay, a former smuggler's cove.
The Isle of Sheppey has more brilliant sandy beaches, alongside flat marshlands that are much visited by walkers, cyclists, photographers and fossil hunters.
Seaside resorts including Folkestone, Whitstable and Margate are praised for moving with the times without losing their traditional appeal. Expect to see a host of galleries, independent shops and excellent restaurants alongside more traditional attractions. In Margate, head for Dreamland, a lovingly restored pleasure park that brings 21st century thrills to an old-fashioned setting.
Kent has historic towns that are filled with ancient legends. The region's capital is Canterbury, home to the magnificent cathedral. For a fascinating view of the city, book a Canterbury Tales tour to dive back into the area's medieval past.
In Strood, Diggerland is a theme park dedicated to the giant yellow construction vehicle. There are indoor and outdoor play areas and rides, but the ultimate enjoyment, for adults only, puts visitors behind the controls of a JCB.
